The concept and cast list.
Show Title: Order of Protection
Concept: A former private investigator from London, out of work in the States for too long, has to take a menial job as chief security guard at a small-town high school in order to keep his work visa. His rag-tag bunch of subordinates, as well as the school's pretty guidance counselor, provide a much-needed distraction from the banalities of his job.

Cast
Simon Dunham (Anthony Stewart Head)

The chief security guard, once a former private investigator from London. His work visa is about to expire so he must go on an immediate job hunt, which inevitably lands him at the local high school. He was once married, but lost his wife at a young age when she left him for another man just two years into their marriage. This causes him to shy away from women in most cases, though there may just be one woman special enough to catch his eye.

Wendell Dunham (Hugh Laurie)

Simon's dim-witted younger brother, whose laissez-faire attitude and absent-mindedness make him generally unemployable. He doesn't mind being called 'Wendie' by his brother, another aspect of his laissez-faire attitude -- he doesn't let things bother him the way that Simon does.

Sara Parker (Robia LaMorte)

The school's one and only guidance counselor, who must deal with the stress of providing guidance to a large student body all on her own. At first blush, she appears stand-offish and a bit snobby, but in actuality she's quite outgoing and flirtatious, hiding a more wounded side beneath. Having recently taken a sabbatical from work for 'personal reasons,' Sara has returned to work a different person; and though she still wears the engagement ring given to her by her fiancé, the state of her personal life may not be what it seems.

Daniel (Danny) Reid (David Boreanaz)

One of Simon's guards, and the most motivated of the bunch. A former Marine down on his luck after returning from Iraq, Danny aspires to be more than a high school security guard. He has high hopes, and wants to work his way up the chain through the police force and then, eventually, head to Washington to become a member of the president's Secret Service.

Andrew Riley (Patrick Dempsey)

Another of Simon's guards, Andrew is somewhat of a playboy. His little black book is filled with the telephone numbers of the pretty single teachers at the school, all of whom he has a habit of "forgetting" to call after a date. According to the rumor mill, he's got a thing for younger women -- from the senior class, to be exact, though whether the rumors are true or false remain to be seen.

Stephen Lewis (Michael Vartan)

The third member rounding out the crew of guards, Stephen is perfectly content with where he is in life. Though working on a security guard's modest salary, he is still able to provide for his wife (also employed by the school) and their baby daughter.

Amy Lewis (Julie Benz)

Amy is Stephen's wife as well as being the administrative assistant to the school's principal. She and her husband have a great rapport though not without the occasional marital strife that comes with having a baby added to the family. She provides a useful ground for her close friend, Sara, in times of personal turmoil and often-times has to play "work wife" to her absent-minded boss.

Casey King (Jennifer Morrison)

A last-minute addition to the school's slim list of guards, Casey is a woman with an attitude, and mostly a bad one at that. She frequently unleashes her attitude on one of the other guards, earning her the nickname "Princess" (a play on her last name). That attitude, however, is just a mask for all the insecurity underneath.

Brianna (Bree) Clark (Leighton Meester)

Bree is a flirtatious 18-year-old senior at the high school, a varsity cheerleader and last year's Prom Queen. Seen as the token "mean girl," Bree enjoys living up to the reputation, and can easily get any guy she desires. If the object of her affection is out of her reach, however, it could spell trouble.

Anastacia (Stacia) Forrester (Kristen Bell)

Stacia (pronounced STAY-shuh) is Bree's best friend as well as the little devil on her shoulder. The original "mean girl" in the senior class, Stacia is worlds more ruthless than Bree. She lives to create conflict, particularly when it's between her best friend and someone else -- even herself. Lately, she's been seen around campus with Bree's ex-boyfriend, but of course they're 'just friends.'

Leland Davis (John Lithgow)

Leland is the school's rather clueless principal. To him, running the school is just another job, and he'd rather be golfing. He relies heavily on his assistant to help him run the show, and, in some ways, to help him run his life. He believes he's always had a knack for police-work and, as such, enjoys pestering the guards when he's not busy. He thinks himself the "cool" principal, and makes daily announcements filled with slang. And, though he's mostly without a clue, he is ultimately lovable. Or at least tolerable.

Rebecca Kearns (Melora Hardin)

Rebecca Kearns, formerly Rebecca Dunham, is Simon's goal-oriented, career-driven ex-wife. Having married too young, Rebecca felt she was missing out on crucial experiences, and left Simon for another man just shy of their second anniversary. Almost twenty years later and she insists that she's seen the error of her ways; her current husband is philandering and she now recognizes just how much she hurt her ex by treating him the same way. Rebecca wants to make amends with her former husband, and possibly ask for another chance. She's a woman who knows what she wants, and she wants Simon.

Keith Carter (Jerry O'Connell)

Sara's fiancé, who proposed to her on the anniversary of their first date. Though Keith is seen only in flashback and photo form, he remains a large part of Sara's heart.

Ooo, a new addition to the cast! I LOVE IT. (something tells me that Sara won't love her too much, though)

Ha, I adore dim-witted Hugh Laurie, so this would definitely go on my to-watch list just for that. (Also your cast is so freaking PRETTY. Plus I kind of love the premise.)

UMM. Please tell me that you plan to hook up ASH and Robia LaMorte's characters. Because that would be epic (slightly Buffy-esque) win. ;)

Also, I LOVE your epic Buffy-related cast!!

Can't wait to see the pilot! :D

All I will say is, I cast them in those particular roles for a reason ;)

Bwaha! I knew it! I even told my non-Buffy-inated friend, "She wouldn't have cast those two if they weren't going to hook up." ;)

LOL! Yeah, my love of Giles/Jenny is just a tad epic. It kinda bled into this whole series-creation thing :D
